2 Years & 3 months

Honestly I don't know exactly how tall he is. He can open the door, does that help? He's still only 26 pounds and after more than a year at this same weight (give or take a pound), I don't see that changing anytime soon. I have to tell ya, those elastic sizers in the waistband of the pants are a GOD sent. Otherwise, he'd still be wearing 12 month old pants with a hem that ended at the knee. Or I'll have to make his clothes a la Carol Burnett, I think the old curtains would make a lovely pant suit.

You know, I can't believe that September is over already. It's like "where did the year go"? What happened to the beginning of the year? What have I been doing? I don't remember alot of the beginning of the year. Not sure if that's normal or not during the grieving process but really, alot of it is a complete blank. Sad.

Where was I? Oh, yeah. John. He's a bundle of energy. He's such a good boy and so laid back and easy going. He's amazing. I kid you not. Really, I'm not trying to blow smoke up your @@@. But by some weird luck of the draw, we have a really easygoing child. And this makes us very very scared of his future teen years! Don't get me wrong, sure he cries and has temper tantrums but they are quite few and far between. I'm in no way saying that it's because we're super duper parents with awesome parenting skills, cuz c'mon, you all know us...we're not.

Look who has better computer skills than Steven.

Taking a break from watching Elmo.

I love this picture.

What?!?!?! He's Chinese?

I was just talking with Dawna and she reminded me of how stupid we are.

Ever since I can remember Jimmy Lee has always been around the family. I thought he was related to us. I thought his name was Jimmy Lee like southerners name their kids Billy Ray or Bobbie Sue. BUT I discovered a couple years ago that not only was Jimmy Lee NOT related to us, he was simply really good friends with my uncle, but he was also NOT even Japanese. Jimmy Lee was Chinese. And his first name wasn't actually Jimmy Lee but just Jimmy.

As if that's not funny enough that I can't even tell who is a part of my family and my own ethnicity but I'm not the only one. Apparently Dawna was under the same delusion.

We told my uncle about it and he laughed and laughed at us.

But really don't blame me. EVERYONE calls him Jimmy Lee.

Give Me A Sign

So this weekend marks one year that my mom had a stroke. I debated whether or not to acknowledge this life changing milestone, I admitted that no matter what it would be foremost in my thoughts. So I went home this weekend. Just me.

I ended up having a lovely weekend with family and friends. I ate and drank my way across town and shared many laughs and some tears.

Today I visited the cemetery to chat with mom and I wondered if she indeed was still looking out for me. Over all of us. In my heart I feel that she is but I asked her. I asked her to give me a sign. On my drive back to Cindy's, just around the corner from the house...I was pulled over by the police. Just as a precaution because my one of my back taillight/brake lights was burnt out. He wanted to let me know so I could be careful and to watch out for myself.

So Mr. Police Man. I am sorry for breaking down in tears after you walked up to my car but I'm going to take it as mom's sign that yes, indeed she is still keeping watch over me. And thank you Mr. Police Man for asking if I was okay and despite all the tears, it was a peaceful experience.

Pesky Chicken Wings

You're never too young to start proper oral hygiene. To be honest I thought he'd freak out when I tried to floss his teeth but surprisingly he was quite docile and when we finished, he wanted to try himself.

So Dawna, these pics are just for YOU.

For Me? Thank you.

My people are so good to me. Look what they bought me.
What do you mean it's not mine? Who's is it? John? INTERLOPER!
I am not listening to you.
lalalalalalala
What are you going to do about it? Carry me out?
Yeah, I didn't think so.
Dude. Possession is nine tenths of the law.
Besides, that little guy worships me.
The tent is mine. End of story.

The Most Spoiled Boy in the World.

In Steven's words...
I want John to have things that I didn't have. Which is pretty much everything.

Which is why my 2 year old with doubtful motorskills has a remote control car.

And a tent.
Not a kid's play tent but a real tent. 6' x 4'.

In my living room.
