The Great Outdoors Part II, Still Kicking Ass

And here are my woodsmen. John is such a little helper. Thank God he didn't get any splinters.

And he's such a poser.
I wonder where John gets it from?
Looking for birds.
Getting ready for the campfire.
Toasting marshmallows. You know, they aren't as good as I remember.
And John, not so much a fan of the roasted marshmallow but loves the untoasted ones.
Do you notice what the focal point of this photo is?

Did you guess correctly?
Poor John. I tried to put him to bed but he cried and cried.
Me: John, it's time for bed.
John: No. Home. HOOOMMMMEEEE.
Me: We're sleeping here tonight.
John: NNNOOOOOO. GGGOOOOOOO HOOOOOMMMMEEE

So as a result, he came back out and fell asleep in my arms. (yet another reason why this was such a blissful weekend. nothing better than having a baby fall asleep in your arms)
Hey Look!
Crazy Eyes came too.

Nature 1 Us 0

It was such a beautiful weekend. We packed up the truck (to the brim) and hit the highway. We rented a cabin and relaxed.

Lunch on the deck.
Our nature walk.
The private road to the cabin. Look at that view!

After the walk.
I love this picture.

Happy Anniversary to us.

From One Mother to Another

I toyed with the idea of writing a sad and melancholy and woe's me post. But then I decided to give my head a shake and remember that I am the mother. It is MY day and to focus on this instead.

Things that I have learned since becoming a mother.
  1. when your son wants to play with you, drop what you're doing and play
  2. dirty hands aren't the end of the world
  3. go to sleep early once in awhile
  4. get all the hugs in now
  5. get all the kisses in now
  6. remember to take a deep breath and count to three
  7. remember that he loves you just as you are
  8. he thinks you are the prettiest mama in the world
  9. he thinks you are the best mama in the world
  10. tomorrow is another day

Things that I love

  1. when your son grabs your hand
  2. when your husband tells you that he still loves you beyond belief
  3. when your son runs into your arms when you come home from work
  4. watching him sleep
  5. listening to the nonsense and pretending to have a conversation
  6. being at home when my son wakes up in the morning (I love the weekends)
  7. dancing with my son
  8. laying on the sofabed with both my babies
  9. learning to live again
  10. my life

Happy Mother's Day.
