How? How? HOW?

Why am I just discovering David Sedaris now? Where have I been?

I LOVE HIM.

That is all.

Thanksgiving

Sometimes it's difficult to remember to be thankful.
Sometimes all that comes to mind is all the horrible things that are happening in your life.
Sometimes all the blackness envelopes you and encompasses everything.
Sometimes it's a struggle to get through each day.
Sometimes you think "why me?".
or
"why her?"
"why did my mom have to die?"
"why did my life have to change so irrevocably?"

Sometimes there are toxic people in your life.
There are people that suck the goodness out. They manipulate, they cajole, they cunningly inquire while in their next breath gossip about you.
There are situations out of your control. There are situations that are beyond your grasp. You do the best you can and sometimes feel like you are only keeping your head above water.

And then you need to step back and take a breath.
To take stock of your life.
To fully appreciate all the goodness in your life.
To know that you love and are loved by the people that matter.
To know that no matter what happens, you will survive.
You will overcome all that is happening and emerge on the other side, a stronger and hopefully better person.

And there are good people out there.
People that you may see every day. Or some that you never see but always keep you near in their hearts, thoughts and prayers.
You need to be able to distinguish from the good and the bad.
But sometimes it's not so black and white.
Life is not black and white.

Remember. Everyone has a story. Everyone has something going on in their lives. Be it the cab driver who has a Ph.D from their mother country. Or the lady sitting on the bus next to you who is struggling to support her family. Or the man walking in front of you who is wondering how he is going to pay his next mortgage payment. Or the girl serving you coffee who is one paycheque away from living on the streets.

Be thankful for what you have.
Be a better person. Strive to be the best person you can be.
Know in your heart that you fall asleep every night that you've done all that you can do to make this world a better place.

I am thankful for my family.

So Cold.

Really? Snowing? Now?

I give up.
