Three Months Old

I can't believe how fast the days are going by. Every day is amazing... tiring... frustrating... but always amazing. I look down at his tiny little feet, his tiny little fingers and think that he grew inside of me. Truly a miracle. Steven & I made him. WE made him together. I'm just in awe of nature.

He can be crying one second and laughing he next. Steven can make him laugh more than me. He knows us and he knows Riley. He still gets the rash on his cheeks but his scalp is clearing up quite nicely. His nails grow at an alarming rate, I always feel badly when I've missed cutting his nails and there's a new scratch on his face. For the most part, he loves being in the truck and 90 percent of the time he'll fall asleep if the trip is longer than 10 minutes. Lately he's been falling asleep around 11pm and sleeping thru until 630am. This past week he's been cranky every single day. We're not sure why. The doctor thinks he may have started teething (he's drooling, gumming, rubbing his head back and forth, crying, cranky, pooping less) but we thought that he was too young. He doesn't usually wake up crying anymore, he's usually talking, cooing and you can hear him smacking or sucking. It's cute. Way cuter (and easier) to wake up to than being jolted awake by the wailing. I can't believe how fast he's growing. There are tons of outfits that he's never had the chance to wear because he just grew too big before he wore them. He's becoming "my little man". The expressions on his face are awesome, you can tell that he's thinking... what about, I'm not sure. He's started to mimic. Steven will stick out his tongue and so will JT. Steven & I have realized that we don't know any kids songs... at least not all the words! We've been putting socks on his hands, not because of the scratching but because he flings his arms out when he sleeps and they aren't covered so his little hands get too cold and I feel bad. Sometimes he sleeps in our bed...not the entire night but in the morning if he wakes up too early and won't go back to sleep in his crib, then I'll nurse him a bit in our bed and lay him down and he falls asleep for a couple more hours. (Steven's usually up and gone to work by then) And he's got the poo-nami's. (think: tsunami, and you'll get the idea!) Since he's been pooping less, when he does poop, whoa nelly watch out! A friend, Lori, coined the phrase poo-nami; although Steven has totally claimed it as his own! I love when JT falls asleep on my shoulder, there's nothing more calming than the sleeping baby. Also
he's like a little heating pad! I can't tell you how much I love him. My son.

Random Things

My mom & sister came up yesterday & today... which is why I've been able to update! When we got home from Church yesterday, they were already in the house; I fed JT and then... AND THEN... I went to the movies. Alone. You have no idea how excited I was to get out by myself and do something just for me. This is only the second time I've been able to do something just for me... long overdue. I went to see Balls of Fury. Meh, it was funny but given the choice I would have rather seen the HP movie. Too bad the two theatres that were showing it were 1/2 way across the city in different directions, it would have taken me at least 40 minutes to get TO the theatre. Oh well, maybe another day.

You may have noticed the baby's name. Yep, am testing out the waters with "JT" instead of John. I had a conversation with Keiko, my cousin, and she pointed out that in years to come no-one will care that "JT" is Justin Timberlake. (OH JEN, I know YOU will always care) I'm totally feeling the name JT, at the beginning it didn't really flow off the tongue but now it seems right. We should probably decide soon... we'll keep you posted.

JT had his first set of vaccinations last week. The needles themselves (3 in total) went well. Steven held his legs while I held him. He cried but not overly so, and calmed down right away and fell asleep in the truck on the way home. But HOLY CRAP. That night was horrible. He screamed. He didn't just cry but he SCREAMED. And Steven was working that night so it was just me & Riley on duty. JT didn't want to be put down, he preferred being rocked and walked. So I did. Then I realized that he had a fever, so off came his clothes and out came the cold washcloth to be dabbed on his skin. I gave him some baby Tyl3nol and walked and rocked and dabbed. Oh and throw in the multiple nursing episodes. It was a difficult and painful evening but then around 1am something happened... his fever must have subsided or something but he settled in on the bed and fell asleep. This was also the first time EVER that he's slept in our bed but by that time I was so exhausted that it seemed a better choice. Anyway, he slept until around 630am... actually I woke up around 330am and couldn't tell if he was breathing so I started poking him and he stirred. So we survived the vaccinations...barely!

I am 13.7 pounds. I am in the 95 percentile for weight.

I am 23.5 inches. I am in the 50 percentile for height.

Road Trip

While Dawna was in town, we decided to hit the road. Our first stop? The Gopher Hole Museum in Torrington. If you've never gone before, you must go; it's stuffed gophers placed in every day situations. I thought I had a picture of one of the displays but apparently I never took any pictures of them. Anyway, the best part of the museum was the gopher head that we got to wear.

And of course we went to Drumheller. However, we didn't go to the museum, rather we went to the little church...

And the Hoodoos...

And then we went to the Last Chance Saloon in Wayne. Dawna & Steven went in and had a beer. JT sat in the truck and had some breastmilk. I just sat in the truck.

The Baby Shower

I've been meaning to post about my baby shower but I haven't had any free time. Cindy's friend Glenda was kind enough to host my baby shower. (btw: she's got a beautiful house)

So you don't think that there's something wrong with the picture, I've blocked out some info.

Cindy made the poster. I'm going to hang it in JT's room.

I'm absolutely amazed by the kindness and generosity of everyone. We had such a good time. In case you were wondering, the baby shower was held in my hometown over the labour day weekend. Steven had to work so he & Riley stayed home while Dawna, JT & I made the drive. Thank goodness for Dawna because she had to drive since I was so exhausted. She's such a trooper because apparently I'm quite the backseat driver. Even as I was bitching from the backseat, I was thinking "OMG... shut up already she's probably going to pull over and kick you out of the truck. Just STOP talking!" Sorry, Dawna.
