Another week, another Wednesday.
Since last Wednesday:
I have:
exercised 5 times
drank my water
drank less soda
packed my lunch every day
I had a small problem with no snacking after 9:00pm. I think the only way to solve it is to go to bed at 9:00pm.
I have to say that I am very proud of myself.

Joy
Fall in love, or fall in hate
Get inspired, or be depressed
Ace a test, or flunk a class
Make babies, or make art
Speak the truth, or lie and cheat
Dance on tables, or sit in the corner
Life is divine chaos, embrace it
Forgive yourself, breathe
And enjoy the ride...

Four Decades
What the crap? Where did the years go? How in the world did I wake up and become 40 years old? I still feel like I'm young.
Forty. Four Zero. The hell?
I remember when I was in school thinking that in the year 2000 (you know, when I would have a jet pack) I would be 30 years old. and wow, that I would be really old. And I would also have a robot servant, but that's beside the point. But 40, I never thought that far ahead. Forty seems really, really grown-up. I don't feel grown-up. I don't feel old. I'm not even sure if I even feel like a certain age but huh, this should feel much more monumental. I'm pretty sure that 40 is a huge milestone, no?
Wednesday Weigh-In
Haha, made ya look. Are you crazy? I am not divulging my weight.
But I did step on the scale last week and as of today, the needle has gone down.
Since last Wednesday I:
exercised 5 times
packed my lunch for work
drank my water during the day
reduced my soda intake
My new goal for this week is to not snack after 9:00pm.

Part Two
Turkey stuffing....yummmmm. We had to take a break during gift opening because I had to start making dinner.

John's "big gift" was the Vtech Reader, I originally was thinking about a kids laptop but after looking at some, we decided that the reader was better. There are games and reading exercises. I'm not sure how much he understands but he has fun with it.
Thank you phone calls. I know it's painful to talk on the phone with a 3 year but he enjoys talking on the phone and we enjoy seeing him being polite and grateful for the presents received. Can you see that his little legs are crossed at the ankles?

Consumerism at its Worst AKA Christmas - Part I
Sorry for the delay but I've been waiting for Cindy's pictures so I could post about Christmas.
It's embarrassing, really. The excess. The over materialism.
But I try and brush aside the guilt and enjoy the purity of John's pleasure. Try being the operative word. Next year, we should adopt this plan: for every gift that we buy John, we are donating the equivalent. That should ease the guilt a bit.
And then you know what? I am a good person. I refuse to feel guilty about trying to give John things that we were never able to have when we were growing up.

I asked if Cindy could bring our stockings up. Aren't they beautiful? Cindy did all the cross-stitch on them and my mom sewed the stockings. John's stocking is the far right.

Getting marshmallows to put in Santa's (aka HoHo) hot chocolate.
And then did I mention that someone drank it on me?
Not sure what emotion that he's going for here...
HoHo jammies. I like the tradition.

It's too crowded in the front room.

I Wish I Wish I Wish
I wish that I could look in the mirror and be happy with my reflection.
I have gained so much weight that it is pathetic. PATHETIC.
I know that you probably don't want to read about this but tough, I need to be accountable somewhere. Originally I was going to start another one but then it would just be strangers. And at the end of the day, strangers aren't going to hold me accountable. You are. My friends and my family.
I'm not crazy. I am nowhere near ready to tell you what I weigh. Frankly I haven't stepped on a scale in months and months. Possibly even a year. But I'm pretty sure that I'm close to my highest weight ever.
Highest Weight Ever. I could cry.
And it's not even over the past year. It's been slowly creeping on. But this past year has been awful. It's like I didn't care that I was gaining weight.
I've had some personal setbacks over the past couple of years. Some you know about and some you don't. The ones that you don't know about, well, I'm quite unlikely to divulge it here. Far too private.
*shock* I know. Too private?
But anyway, these setbacks have kind of been 1 step forward, 3 steps back, 1 step forward, 2 steps back and then kicks you in the back of the knees to bring you down and then jumps up & down on your back while you're on the ground. Then laughs & points at you while you're crying on the floor. Maybe even takes pictures of you and then posts them on FB to show how much of an jerk the setback is. (And no, "setback" isn't an alias for a person)
I am announcing right here, right now that I will get off my fat ass. I need to do something before I have to get John to learn how to tie my shoes so I won't have to bend down anymore.
