Ready Set GO

This is his new thing. He'll stand against the wall, he'll ask me to sit on the floor in front of the couch. And he'll RACE toward me, he'll run full tilt at me. Sometimes he doesn't even wait for me to be paying attention and I'll happen to glance up and see him barrelling toward me.

But if there's a camera, there's always time to slow down to pose.

And he's tricky. He'll run toward me, then feign right or left and then turn around and run back to the start.
I LOVE this one. Great picture, caught in mid stride.
Although, it does look like he's prancing.
Best feeling in the world.
Running into my arms for a big hug and a kiss.

He's such a poser.
This is the view I have. Running full speed at me.

More Randoms

It may look like he's making a snow angel but this is the aftermath of being thrown in the snow by his father.

Yeh, that's right. We make him work for his keep. He's pretty strong for a 2 year old.

Even though it appears that he's having fun, he really doesn't like sledding down an incline.
He's more of a walk up and down the hill kind of kid.

Or pull an empty sled up and down the alley kind of kid.

Creepy Santa

Ah yes, the Creepy Santa. How I love him. He belonged to my parents and now he belongs to me. Creepy Santa is old, a bit cracked and possibly a bit smelly. But I love him all the same....just like Steven.

I'm really unsure if John likes the CS or if he simply tolerates him because Mama loves him.

He's totally doing a fashionista runway walk.
So stylish, head gear, hockey pjs, wrist bands.. if only he was wearing his green rain boots!

Back to posing with CS.

Randomness from 2009

Setting up our beautiful NEW Christmas tree.

I love me some Festive head gear.
Decorating the tree.
A bit of Riley love.
Papa and John, sledding in the alley.
Adorable.
Alms for the poor, guvnor? I love this hat.

Steven-isms

Steven talking to John: You're so smart. How are you so smart? Next to me, I make you look smart.

Steven: what's the difference between green beans and those snap peas?
Me: aside from one being a bean and one being a pea?
Steven: there's no difference. They look the same.
Me: green beans and snap peas? what's the difference?

Feels Like Being Hit By a Bus

I'm sitting there minding my own business when WHAM, my mom pops into my head. And all of a sudden I am back. In an instance, I am transported to a different time. Never the same time but always there.

Sometimes I picture my mom when I was younger. I can see her hands. Her nails were so perfect. Her hands and fingers weren't misshapen from all the hard work she'd done.

Sometimes I am really little. Like the time when I was sick and called her at work to come home and she did. I don't know how much money it cost us or what she had to tell her boss but she came home for me.

Or when I'm a little older and I'm in high school and we're watching Murder She Wrote. Or The Young and the Restless. Or Unsolved Mysteries.

And then I am instantly transported to the night I spent in the hospital with her on the night of her stroke. Lying beside her bed, listening to her breathe, holding her hand, telling her that I was here and that we would get through this and she would be okay.

And then there are the times when I imagine. I let my mind free and I picture her here. Healthy. Alive. Enjoying life. Enjoying her grandson. Still in my life.

And then I'm back to reality and it feels like I've been hit by a bus. All over again.

Do you know what else? I can't hear her. That makes me beyond sad.
